So who is this yutz?

I’m a creative ninja with superb technical skills, a keen mind, and a flair for adding value.

I worked at the University of Michigan for 17 years, cutting video from U-Matic to XDCAM HD. My video work has won two Communicator Awards, two Videographer Awards and an Axiem Award. More recently, I’ve provided motion graphics for a Telly Award-winning feature at the University of Michigan.

I also have an extensive print portfolio. Need a two-color poster that looks like four? I’m your guy. In the Ann Arbor area, you can find my work larger than life at the corner of Huron and Fifth Ave., and on Arbor Brewing Company bottles all over the state.

From 2008-2009 I produced and hosted “Kids on Strike”, a weekly hour of immature music on WCBN FM in Ann Arbor, and from 2005-2009 I voiced station announcements for Michigan Channel.

Lately I’ve become interested in puppet construction and performance. I’ve trained with puppet designers Pasha Romanowski and BJ Guyer; and Muppet performers Cheryl Blaylock, Noel MacNeal, and Peter Linz. I won a John Rae Cameo Award for puppeteering, and my short film “P.A.A.”, with five puppets I built, won both Best Dark Comedy and Audience Choice in the 2012 48 Hour Film Project Detroit.

So, yeah. It’s a broad range of skills I bring to the table… but I just bet there’s something in there your company needs. Feel free to drop me a line anytime, erikwrightolsen@outlook.com, check out my profile at thumbtack.com, or call +1 (734) 709-2864.
